AI-based voice technology runs with high performance and in compliance with data protection regulations on managed infrastructure in PFALZKOM’s Data Centers
Aristech GmbH from Heidelberg develops pioneering ideas on the human-machine interface. Language specialists are driven by new ideas that allow language to be used intuitively and naturally in everyday life and make people’s lives easier. This innovative spirit can be found in all AI-based speech technology solutions such as voicebots, speech recognition, text-to-speech and semantic analyses, which are operated as cloud applications and made available to users. Aristech uses PFALZKOM’s server and VoIP infrastructure as a solid basis for this.
The main challenge for cloud-based applications was to ensure high-performance and uninterrupted operation. In addition, the systems should run in a secure and data protection-compliant environment so that even data-sensitive voice dialogs can be conducted without restrictions or concerns. After all, information in discussions with a financial institution or personal details, for example, which often have to be provided to local authorities, should only be usable within the secure cloud application and the secure network.
In order to jointly develop the technical requirements and the optimal sizing for the IVR system (Interactive Voice Response), PFALZKOM initially provided a test environment in its own cloud. The CPU, RAM and storage were dimensioned precisely for the multi-client capable software solution. The high availability of the system and possible load peaks were also taken into account at an early stage of the design process. In addition to the test phase, Carolin Edler-Mende, Managing Director of Aristech GmbH, visited the Rhein-Neckar II Data Center to see the modern and seamless security mechanisms for herself and to learn about the regularly audited operating processes. After a successful test phase, nothing stood in the way of moving the software to PFALZKOM’s regional, TÜV-certified Data Center. On the contrary: Aristech now has access to highly available and secure technology that is at least equal if not better and has also gained a new business partner on an equal footing.

In addition to the purely technical and legal aspects, soft factors also play an important role: “The discussions with PFALZKOM were constructive and based on partnership right from the start. We feel very well understood and supported. The hands-on mentality fits in very well with our own procedures.”
The Aristech team can therefore concentrate fully on its core tasks – the development of intuitive dialogs, customer-specific individual voices or semantic analysis tools. This supports customer service, digitizes contact processes and generally expands the possibilities in the area of spoken communication. In addition to many satisfied customers, the Aristech solutions were also recognized with the “ZIM Cooperation Project of the Year” award at the SME Innovation Day 2019.
The server and storage infrastructure used is operated in the highly available PFALZKOM level 4 Data Centers in several fire compartments. Both the Data Centers and the service based on the OpenStack platform are ISO 27001 certified. The Data Centers are very energy-efficient and only use green electricity. The integration as a 100% subsidiary of PFALZWERKE AG offers all PFALZKOM customers additional security and stability.
