DATIS IT-Services relies on PFALZKOM’s Data Center and network expertise to ensure the fail-safe operation of both its corporate IT systems and its customers’ environments

Start of the Collaboration

To ensure both high availability and reliability of its own infrastructure, DATIS IT-Services decided to establish a second Data Center location. Initially, the company considered expanding its own physical resources to include a second fire compartment. However, meeting the requirements of its customer base and complying with all current standards would have required extensive and costly investments. Therefore, the company simultaneously explored the option of moving to an external Data Center, which proved to offer significant advantages in terms of both time and cost.

The first meeting at the PFALZKOM Data Center Rhein-Neckar I began with a detailed tour of the facilities and an open discussion about a possible future collaboration.

Focus on the Essentials – The Second Major Step

At the start of the project, the costs for upgrading the company’s own Data Center were compiled, and PFALZKOM’s expertise was already drawn upon at this stage. At the same time, alternative providers in the region were approached and thoroughly evaluated over a period of ten years. After deciding against continuing to use its own Data Center due to increasing requirements and investment needs, DATIS IT-Services opted to expand its use of capacity at PFALZKOM’s Data Center Rhein-Neckar I.
The Data Center location and the on-site team were already well-established thanks to previous collaboration, which made the decision even easier. Many advantages thus remained in place: familiar processes, remote hands services as needed, technical support, and a significantly reduced resource requirement on the customer’s side. Finally, the perfect network connectivity—which is particularly impressive due to its flexibility—rounded out the overall package. For example, dedicated connections for DATIS IT-Services’ end customers are also possible.

“More than five years ago, DATIS IT-Services chose PFALZKOM’s Data Center Rhein-Neckar I to operate its corporate IT and the IT environments of its well-known clients. Last year, the company decided to close its own Data Center and, as part of an expansion of the cage, move almost entirely into DCRN I,” summarizes Maximilian Münch, Managing Director of DATIS IT-Services.

Making the best possible use of resources and providing the best possible support

After being awarded the contract, PFALZKOM quickly and professionally began taking the first steps. All adjustments were made in consultation with the client and through regular communication. The flexibility offered regarding contract extensions was also an important detail discussed during the talks. The following services are included:

• Expansion of the cage by eight additional racks, for a total of 22 racks
• Increase in connected load to 125 kW in two stages
• Further separation in fiber-optic connections

To allow DATIS IT-Services to focus entirely on migrating its IT systems, PFALZKOM handled the inter-rack cabling according to the customer’s specific requirements – with complete flexibility to meet the customer’s needs.

How Solutions and Collaboration Bring Nothing but Benefits

As new partners in the Data Center sector, DATIS IT-Services and PFALZKOM have forged a strong alliance. The decision was based on the perfect combination of connectivity, full performance, and flexibility. The network infrastructure is provided by PFALZKOM itself and can be individually customized or configured as needed – particularly through the parallel establishment and expansion of the connection. This also allows for end-customer connections to be implemented even on short notice, without requiring any adjustments to the DATIS IT-Services network.
