Cloud telephone services from regional Data Centers – powerful, data protection-compliant and future-proof

IP telephone services have been growing steadily since the end of the ISDN era. EDNT GmbH is also taking advantage of the trend towards cloud applications and is positioning itself with secure and powerful cloud telephone service solutions, among other things. As data security is a top priority, the communications specialist relies on highly available and data protection-compliant infrastructure solutions in PFALZKOM’s Data Centers.

EDNT GmbH, based in Bensheim an der Bergstraße, has specialized in IT systems and services since it was founded in 1998. Its core skills include cloud telephone service, cloud computing, IT monitoring and the development of hardware and software solutions. By operating its own server clusters, EDNT provides customers with access to both complete infrastructures and complete business solutions.

Thanks to the steadily increasing demand for cloud-based IT and telephone service solutions over the years, EDNT GmbH has continued to develop its services. Some of the individual customer solutions were implemented on servers in a self-operated Data Center at the company location. With growing development costs and simultaneously increasing requirements for efficient, uninterrupted and data protection-compliant operation of the server room, a suitable alternative was required.

“The availability of our services for our customers and the security of their and our critical business data is crucial for us. We were therefore looking for a true partner at regional level with whom we could set up our server cluster with a clear conscience and who could credibly assure us of high availability and secure operation,” explains Karlheinz Knapp, Managing Director of EDNT.

PFALZKOM’s Data Centers are an ideal choice for this. In addition to the physical security of the buildings, which protects against unauthorized access to the systems, all operationally critical components of the Data Centers are designed with redundancy. This ensures uninterrupted operation. Based on the high technical and organizational standards, the TÜV-certified Data Centers each individually meet availability class 3+ and together meet the highest availability class 4.

Initially, EDNT implemented one server cluster each in spatially separated fire compartments in DCRN I. These are connected with each other. The servers are redundantly connected to PFALZKOM’s fiber optic backbone, which extends from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region to Frankfurt via several separate routes.

With continuous growth, EDNT expanded its cluster and added the DCRN II site, which opened in 2017. The virtual telephone system is now operated in two geo-redundant Data Centers of PFALZKOM (with the highest availability class 4). This solution not only guarantees highly available and fail-safe operation. In fact, the infrastructure meets the high requirements for data protection-compliant and secure data storage.
